Neotel is using spectrum in all of the bands licensed to it and is hopeful that “the right decision for South Africa is made” (by Icasa) Vodacom announced on Monday, 19 May 2014 that it would acquire 100% of Neotel, including shareholder loans against it. Among the benefits of the acquisition, Vodacom said, is that the combination of the two networks will improve overall network availability and reduce the cost to serve customers.
